2016 All-Star Game Open Thread
AL beats NL 4-2 for fourth straight All-Star Game win

Triple-A Scranton is off until Thursday for the All-Star break. The All-Star Game itself is Wednesday night. It’ll be broadcast on MLB Network. OF Ben Gamel, RHP Chad Green, OF Aaron Judge, and C Gary Sanchez were selected to represent the Yankees. Judge won’t be playing because of his recent knee injury though.

Double-A Trenton is also off until Thursday for the All-Star break. Their All-Star Game is Wednesday as well. LHP Jordan Montgomery, LHP Dietrich Enns, SS Tyler Wade, OF Dustin Fowler, C Kyle Higashioka, and RHP Jonathan Holder were all selected to the All-Star Game. Enns is in Triple-A now and was replaced on the roster by Holder.

High-A Tampa had a scheduled off-day.

Low-A Charleston (9-0 win over Rome)

  • 2B Hoy Jun Park: 1-4, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K — fifth in the system with 40 walks
  • SS Kyle Holder: 0-5
  • CF Jeff Hendrix: 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HBP
  • 1B Chris Gittens: 3-4, 2 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 1 HBP — 9-for-19 (.474) with three doubles and two homers in his last five games
  • 3B Mandy Alvarez: 2-5, 1 R — 13-for-28 (.464) with Charleston … this year’s 17th rounder has a hit in all but one of his 20 pro games
  • C Luis Torrens: 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB — bumped up here after hitting .311/.360/.400 (132 wRC+) in 50 plate appearances with Staten Island
  • DH Gosuke Katoh: 2-3, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 HBP
  • RF Alex Palma: 3-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K
  • LHP Nestor Cortes: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 8/0 GB/FB — 61 of 86 pitches were strikes (71%), plus he picked a runner off first … he’s allowed three earned runs in his last 36.2 innings (0.74 ERA)

Short Season Staten Island (3-1 win over Lowell)

  • CF Ricardo Ferreira: 1-5, 1 R, 1 2B
  • DH Nick Solak: 1-2, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 BB — 5/10 K/BB in 18 games … he’s been on base 33 times in those 18 games
  • 3B Drew Bridges: 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 K
  • SS Angel Aguilar: 0-4, 3 K — in a 1-for-21 (.048) slump with eleven strikeouts
  • RHP Anyelo Gomez: 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HB, 6/3 GB/FB — 48 of 77 pitches were strikes (62%)

Rookie Pulaski had a scheduled off-day.

Rookie GCL Yanks East (6-3 win over GCL Braves)

  • 1B Brandon Wagner: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI — second straight game with a homer
  • DH Jordan Scott: 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
  • SS Yancarlos Baez: 2-4, 1 SB
  • RHP Daniel Alvarez: 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 7/1 GB/FB

Rookie GCL Yanks West (4-3 win over GCL Phillies in eleven innings, walk-off style)

  • DH Pablo Oliveras: 0-4, 1 R, 1 BB
  • SS Diego Castillo: 1-5, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 E (fielding) — first homer of the season is a walk-off shot
  • CF Blake Rutherford: 3-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K — first pro dinger for this year’s first rounder … he went 0-for-10 in his first three games and has gone 5-for-12 (.417) in the four games since
  • 1B Miguel Flames: 1-4, 1 RBI
  • RF Leobaldo Cabrera: 2-4, 1 CS — has gone 2-for-18 (.111) in his last six games
  • RHP Brady Lail: 2.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 4/2 GB/FB — first rehab game … he’s been out since June 14th with an oblique injury
  • RHP Gilmael Troya: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HB, 1/3 GB/FB — 14/6 K/BB in 15.1 innings
