Three Gentle Reminders
Fan Confidence Poll: March 12th, 2018

The Yankees traveled to the other side of Florida and lost to the Marlins this afternoon. Aaron Judge clubbed his first home run of the spring, further indicating he is starting to get locked in at the plate. Didi Gregorius went deep as well. Greg Bird had a single and a walk, Miguel Andujar had a triple, and Gary Sanchez had a single. Gleyber Torres went 0-for-3 and is 3-for-23 (.140) this spring. Womp womp.

Jordan Montgomery started and struggled, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks in 2.1 innings. Wade LeBlanc allowed two runs in two innings and Cody Carroll struck out three in his scoreless inning. Not a great day on the mound. So it goes. Starlin Castro took Sanchez, Torres, Andujar, and Estevan Florial out to dinner last night according to Brendan Kuty. That’s pretty cool. Here is the box score and here are the rest of the day’s notes from Tampa:

  • Tyler Wade (wrist) was checked out today and everything is fine. He’ll be in the lineup tomorrow. “I guess we dodged a bullet in a way, considering our initial reaction to what it looked like. He should be good to go,” said Aaron Boone. Clint Frazier (concussion) will see a neurologist today. Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique) was scheduled for some tee and soft toss work today. [Kuty]
  • The Yankees have made an effort to pair Sonny Gray with Sanchez this spring. “I love that guy. I mean he works so hard every day. You get the sense that he genuinely cares. I’m not necessarily the easiest guy in the world to catch just because I try to do some things unconventional,” said Gray. [Pete Caldera]
  • The Yankees are back in action tomorrow night against the Twins. That game will be televised. Masahiro Tanaka is the scheduled starter.

This is the nightly open thread. MLB Network is showing spring games through the night, the Knicks, Nets, and Islanders are playing, and there are some college basketball games on as well. Talk about those games or anything here that isn’t religion or politics. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
