DotF: Gil dominates in Pulaski’s walk-off win

Earlier today the Yankees acquired RHP George Kontos, then, a little while later, they acquired 3B Gio Urshela from the Blue Jays for cash, the team announced. He’s not on the 40-man roster and he’s going to Triple-A. Urshela, 26, hit .233/.283/.326 (66 wRC+) in 19 games with the Indians and Blue Jays earlier this year before being outrighted. He’s a great defensive player. You may remember this. Urshela effectively replaces Brandon Drury with the RailRiders.

• 3B Ronald Torreyes: 0-3, 1 K — my guess is he’ll rejoin the Yankees on Monday, with 1B Luke Voit going down
• LHP Nestor Cortes: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 1 HB, 5/4 GB/FB — 61 of 101 pitches were strikes … tenth times in 19 games this year that he’s allowed no more than one run

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders Game Two (6-4 loss to Buffalo in seven innings)

• SS Abi Avelino: 1-3, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 BB — pretty good day at the park
• RF Ryan McBroom: 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K
• 2B Ronald Torreyes: 0-3, 1 R, 1 BB — 4-for-17 (.236) in five games since rejoining the team
• 3B Gio Urshela: 0-4, 2 K — he was essentially traded between games, and all he had to do was go to the other dugout
• LHP Stephen Tarpley: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 4/0 GB/FB — 28 of 48 pitches were strikes (58%) … 1.72 ERA with 56/22 K/BB and 70.7% grounders in 57.2 innings this year … he’ll be Rule 5 Draft eligible again this offseason and I think there’s a pretty good chance he’ll be added to the 40-man roster … put up those numbers at the upper levels as a lefty with some velocity, and some team would give him a look in Spring Training
